Hi I was wondering if anyone knew about a double Denom with the 86 dime can't find any info .also would it be worth getting graded? Thanks
double Denom? Do you mean double Denomination? ==> https://minterrornews.com/issue38.pdf I think your dime is just heavily damaged.
Leaves along the left thru liberty and in God we trust along with what looks like an arm but im sure it's something else the head I'm not sure what that lump is to the right the start of a letter looks like possible letter in Liberty due to sz also I'm just a newbie so I maybe using wrong name but definitely looks like something got punched over it another dime or quarter not sure but I think I'm going to have it graded just for curiosity sake . Thank you All
Please don't waste your money having it graded. It's damaged, and worth face value only. Every cent you spend on fees, postage, insurance could be used to buy one of a number of books that would be much more helpful to you in finding out about what an error coin is, and how to tell. .....or buy a coin with that $35-$65 you would spend on a damaged dime.... Sorry...
Both paddyman98 and Fred Wienberg agree that what you are seeing is just damage. How can you still be so certain that this is what you think it is?
Well because although I did my best to take good pictures your not able to see the detail as well as I am and if I grade it and it is indeed just damaged then it's a lesson learned
You can get it graded if you want by PCGS, ANACS or NGC. But you have some pretty good experts look at it already and give you a reply. Personally, as mentioned already I don't see anything but damage; 32 years of damage but someone really messed it up at one time.
Why pay all of that money for a TPG opinion that we all agree will be the same as the opinions you got for free here. You've heard from some of the most learned and respected in the hobby. Don't discount them because you have dollar signs in your eyes.
If you think we dissagree with you because of the quality of your pictures, take better ones. Place your phone on a box instead, then take pictures. Make sure the box is high enough that it can focus, and not too high that the picture becomes blurry. Do this on a table or any other flat surface. You can use a flashlight for lighting if you don't have a desk lamp.
I am aware of that, but she stated that the reason she didn't believe us was because we couldn't see all of the details that she could. So, if she is able to take better pictures, and everyone still agrees that it is not an error, she might believe us and not send it in.
I'm definitely not discounting opinions and it was not my intention to offend anyone I am just starting and am learning I also don't have the best equipment yet so I was just concerned maybe my photos were not detailed enough Iam a single parent of 5 foster children and No really don't have money to spend on grading so I wouldn't do it if I didn't think there was a reason too and yes prob have dollar signs in my eyes and would be awesome to find a new error But I'm pretty sure we all feel that way Right? I apologize if I offended you All have a wonderful Day
I'm not at all offended. Too many come here for the first time thinking they have found the holy grail and an early retirement and have a hard time believing that they haven't and will not accept the reality of the situation.
We're not offended whatsoever, but please re-read my posts above. With 5 Foster Care Children, I'd think the last thing you'd need to so is spend $50 or so on a dime that's worth a dime. We're just trying to help you with info on your coin, and also save you from wasting money on it.
