I'm so used to using quarters in transactions, that once when I did have halves I accidentally gave double the amount!!! I know, thats pretty embarrassing for a coin collector. Luckily the cashier was an older guy who I know pretty well, and he immediately noticed that they were halves.
i love when the cashier calls over the managers to see if they accept $2 bills. its happen to me numerous times
These stories are good. What I thought was funny was when the pres dollars first came out I went up and got all the rolls from one bank. All they had left was 5 rolls. I check the edge lettering, put maybe 2 rolls in the nephews coin jars and then spent the rest. At Mcdonalds when I paid the little teller girl goes "Oh cool" - then she starts checking the lettered edges. I laughed and told her I already checked. She said - I still check them all. At another store the teller a little older also check the edge lettering to see if it was all there and preceded to tell me about the missing edge letters. It seems like until I got rid of those coins everybody was check the edge lettering.
If you go to the fed Reserve site, it shows that ike dollars can still be ordered. Most tellers are not aware of this because it is not on there order sheets. link http://www.frbservices.org/operations/currency/coin_depositing.html at site page scroll down to chart
