I can find the coins I am looking for, but they are not in the grade I want or they are overpriced for my tastes. I think the one coin I might go out a limb for is a 1995W Silver Eagle - but I would prefer it raw and then I would get it graded. This is not a coin I would buy over the internet. Still one day I might own one.

I can also find what I'm looking for, just can't find the funds to get them, lol. :D Dream coin, will probably have to be the 1909 VDB Proof cent. Favorite series, and I love proof coins. Perfect fit. :D :)

    Phoenix

I think that is a curse of every collector!!!

But remember the infamous quote (that is similar to) "numismatics is the only hobby in the world where you can spend all your money - and STILL have money left over"

I've been looking for any decent Seated Liberty Half Dime 1837-1873 thats not worn flat, bent or beat up somehow. I have some of them but the most elusive are those between 1840-1850. Its a difficult series to collect in decent grades (vg-vf).

Not surprisingly I have more than one "most wanted" coin.
    But in order of preference:

    1. 1950 Proof Dime slabbed (Yes, I know. It's a relatively inexpensive coin BUT it's the only one missing from my slabbed set of silver Roosevelts. I've been looking for 2-3 years, but the ones I find are all overpriced. Can't find them at a show; too inexpensive for the dealers to bring. Got a shot at one coming up this weekend.)

    2. 1907 or 1908 Indian Head Eagle ($10), No Motto on the Reverse (Last coin I need for my short typeset.)

    3. 1945-S Full Steps Jefferson Nickel (Key to the "full steps" War nickels. Want it slabbed. Last one I need for my FS War nickels set.)

    4. 1941-S Jefferson Nickel in MS-65 (Last coin I need for my matched birth year set.)

You will note that ALL of the above are in the "last needed" category.

    5. 1864 Small Motto 2 Cent Coin (I've got one slabbed but it looks a bit "unhealthy" at the right on the reverse.)

    6. 1877 Indian Head Cent (I don't collect IHCs, but I do try to get affordable keys and semi-keys.)

    7. 1909-S Indian Head Cent (See 6.)

    That's my hit list.

    I need 1909-S VDB, 1909-S, 1911-S, 1914-D, 1924-D, 1924-S and 1926-S - all uncirculated. Some year, yeh right!
I could also use a 1931-D and 1931-S red uncirculated.

If there is any doubt, I am talking about Lincolns only.

A couple of coins that I would like to get are:

    A Proof-66 Cameo Shield Nickel

Easy for me, besides getting a bunch of Bust 1/2 dollars for my set, the number one choice would be
    (start the drum roll, please):

    The 1901 S Barber quarter.

Seeing as this is the US coin section, I suppose I should answer with a US coin. And heck, why not dream big?

The schoolgirl pattern, in silver, J-1608.

Still looking for 1921 and 1921-D Walking Liberty half dollars. Also 1919-D and 1928-S dimes in XF to AU.
Lastly a 1948 Franklin half with FBL.

If I were to be dirty, I'd find myself a 2003 silver Britannia (reverse only! not the Queen! lol) :p
