Welcome to Cointalk Can you show a pic of the obverse and what makes you think it might be fake. Dave
Just take a regular Mercury dime and compare side by side. If you don't own one, then look online for a picture. Try to figure out what's wrong. It's pretty obvious.
Looks real to me (need pics of *both* sides any time you post a question to help). Just a lot of circulation wear and tear and dirty. although i'm checking into that mint mark. here's a 1916 D to compare to
Again? You already created 3 other threads about this. It's 100% fake. The lettering, devices, coloring, it's all fake.
the word DIME did look really odd to me, but i'm no Mercury dime expert. The branch on the left side is totally different too - though seems to match later mercury dimes. never saw a fake dime before. no picture of the Front (Obverse) ??
It looks like it's probably fake, to me. It's missing a leaf off the stem right above the mint mark. If that was due to wear, I think the D would also have worn significantly, but it is solid. It's possible that someone added the D to a Philadelphia dime, but after looking at what wcoins posted, I tend to agree; the coin is all fake.
Can't make a definitive comment concerning the "D" in "DIME" or the "NE" in "ONE" but the mint mark is too large and the leaf appears to be missing. At this point I have mapped 3 different mint mark locations for the 1916-D. There could be more. The authentic example matches the blue mint mark location.
