Incredible congratulations @Bing ! WELL done! And it is a great looking coin as well as rare! Here are a couple of my Legio... I came close. I think I was missing 5, but then sold most to concentrate on Portraits of Antony and the Flavian's.
Thanks. It's been in sight for a long while, but the Legio IIII may be very hard to come by. I've not been looking for the past couple of weeks since I'll be gone for 5 weeks and I don't want any coins returned because I couldn't sign for them. I'll resume my search when I return.
Think positive. Dig for coins while your in Europe and you'll find it. It's just laying in the ground in a urn waiting for you. Have a great and a safe trip.
I will, thanks. My son is excited about going MDing. He found there is a battle site where Julius Caesar punished the Atuatuci, who had assisted the Nervians. He cornered them in a hillfort immediately south of modern Thuin just 40 miles from where he is stationed. It was called Oppidum Aduaturcorum. The problem will be that he and his family will be just settling into their new digs, so he may not have much free opportunity. But, we will try (within the law of course).
Wow, congrats, Bing! Glad you managed to score this one - it's an excellent example! Just a matter of time now before you nab that last legion. Here they all are ( I can only load ten images so this will be in three parts). I did not want to do a tray as the images would be too small:
