Well like I said earlier . I took the liberty to take some more photos of lincoln on the reverse and of that Notch that is showing on the 7 in the date just to make absolutely sure that we're not seeing shadows or distorted images form the poor megapixels ... And to my surprise its actually Just True doubling there ... So what's the verdict ... 1974 D DDO and DDR ... OR is it something more sinister because I've never seen anything like it ... LOL
Is this the new discovery and very first of a 1974D bearing Doubled dies on the Obverse and Reverse ????
Check variety vista or wexler's doubled die sites. I believe they do verification of new discoveries. That would be your best bet Other than Rick S, I don't think there is much interest in micro doubled dies in the CT community. That might explain why you aren't getting solid answers to your questions. Nothing wrong with your interest in these, just something to consider when looking for info and opinions
I totally understand but aren't alot of the Doubled dies thats mentioned on the Error websites minor Doubled dies ... LOL . Either way thanks for the advice because I still love the hobby
I know that the images are enlarged but I noticed that there are only a select few who can not seem to make out the enlarged images for some strange reason and the images are very clear and crisp from my end so it may be time to update those computers or laptops fellas . Or at least send me images of what your seeing on your end so that way I can see if there's some other mystery reason as to why whenever I post a genuine Doubled die they're really hard to see .... LOL . Smh
In the first two photos in your post clearly show to me, indentations on the edge of the 7 and 9 that are not as raised as the main portion of the device , they are flattened, so that is IMO, mechanical doubling damage rather than true DD. The mintmark also shows similar on the same side. Jim
Well gosh ... I couldn't help noticing that no one ever really said anything about the Visible doubling on lincolns chair and so I guess there's some truth to what someone else said about the site ... That the MD's and DDD's are the only thing that really gets recognized the most here . LOL
MrCoins101 perhaps your conclusion is accurate but you should also consider that, maybe what Oldhoopster so kindly pointed out is in fact true, and nobody felt the need to try repeating it.
