1986D quarter

    Has anyone seen this error on an 1986D quarter

    The entire coin has ridges all the way around, but center is smaller than the silver(nickel) any advise would be helpful

    Looks damaged. I don't think it is an error.
    Something corroded the inner copper core.

    So the ridges are supposed to be as deep as the missing coper

    If that was a mint error they would have to use a special collar that squished the middle section, then expanded back out in what .. a millisecond or two .. and repeat for how many coins?

    look at all the green copper corrosion
