Damaged large date Denver. 1 cent.
I feel rejuvenated that we are getting back to the off metal
1982-D small date copper and away from all of these foreign planchet things.

And I can barely contain my nausea. This is NOT what this hobby is, people! Get a clue!

In terms of the hobby, you have a lot of dinosaurs, and the new people have all been introduced to it via You Tube. So the perception is different.
When I was a kid, you could still find coins in circulation. Lots of old date wheaties,
even a Mercury dime once in a while. Not valuable, but it was cool to find a Franklin half or another old coin floating around.
What do these kids today have in circulation? Late 50's Jefferson nickels worth face value. An occasional wheatie worth 3 cents. A 1964 Rosie if they search through $1000 worth of dimes. So I can see why they are all looking for this magic bullet,
1982-D small date copper, off metal coin, foreign planchet coin, doubled die coins,
because that is what the You Tube videos have taught them to look for.
They aren't buying coin books and studying. This is the ADHD culture and they need to find something yesterday. LOOK SQUIRRELS!

There is a small benefit to this ADHD culture. Once their need for instant gratification is not satisfied, most of them will leave in pursuit of some other temporary euphoria, but the ones who remain will have a true interest.
And the herd will be culled.

Mmmmm, herd culling. When do the YouTube "ignorance jockeys" get THEIR just rewards?

Kurt, you can't cull a herd firing blindly over the hill, you and maybe ANAC need to get into the herd ( Youtube) and pick them off at close range. A snappy Youtube title to attract them, and then a volley of truth in the vein of " great richness" that lies ahead by politician-like speaker, with directions to the valley of the aware dinosaurs ( ANACS ?). I do think most of the 'real' collectors are ADHD anyway, whether they think so or not. They exist in both sides of the herd,
Your photo was just as imagined by the way. Cheers :) , Jim

Close, but not quite. Old school collectors are not ADHD. OCD is their usual malady. A look around the exhibit area at a major show during set-up is a virtual textbook of OCD spectrum behaviors. And I am including myself therein. Just THAAAAAAAT little tiny bit of extra self-awareness.

    .....
If you had a realistic "reality video" and compare the views to an unrealistic "get rich quick with your pocket change" video; the results would probably be a landslide to the unrealistic side.

Isn’t it Doug that often says people will ONLY believe what they WANT TO believe? Truth no longer motivates people, only the lies you want to believe do. Yay, Internet, huh? History’s finest ever propaganda / lie propagation machine.

Well put. Similar occurrences in the railroad history area: The poster will not google, check the reference links, etc. But, just wants the answer, and hardly ever a response, much less a comment, thank you, etc. I send the link and let 'em look it up, period. :)
