Does anyone here collect the commemorative half dollars (From pre 1940)

There are tons of fakes out there, and not just the key dates. Learn the series, study the nuances of each series, and watch what you're buying. I originally was doing slabbed and raw sets, but have been focusing on completing my slabbed set (only 4 left to go).

If you don't feel 100% confident in distinguishing a fake or a details coin, stay with slabbed coins (a general rule in the world of numismatics for most).
