This finally arrived last week. Here is my photo. The first silver coin of the Romans, C. 300 BC: Denomination: Didrachm Metal: AR Obverse: Head of Mars L., Oak leaf to R. (very weak on this example and largely off the flan) Reverse: Horse head with ROMANO on raised tablet. Corn ear on L. Weight: 6.45 gms Reference: Crawford 13/1 Provenance: Kunker eSale 50, Lot 22, July 18, 2018 Comments: Rare obverse die with fewer than 10 known from this obverse and at least two reverse dies. Light weight, but within reasonable range.
Along with my 1/2 cent, i added these as well today. Not a bad $200 spent for the 4 coins. ⬆ And some pawn shop silver. $20 a piece. Oh well. (2) 1987's some toning. (1) 2017
With a mintage of 129,694. Question is, how many survived in this condition? Made a trade and was able to snag this beauty up.
