    Interesting

I don't know what it is or what it is worth but it looks like a mint error like i never seen before KEWL>

I've heard that retained strike throughs, or when the struck through item is retained, that it is more rare. I had to look twice since it looks like a lamination at first glance.

It looks to me like a very nice find.

That looks like a really neat coin. I would love to know what that was struck through. Do you think it could have been another planchet? There seems to be an awful large piece of metal still retained on the coin.

I agree with those who say it's a struck-in piece of metal ("retained strike-thru"). As to value, I'd say at least $75 and perhaps as much as $150. A very nice circulation find.

Thanks for all of the replies, it is definately a "retained "strike thru. I'm just not sure what exactly it is. I'm fairly positive it's copper, kinda like a ribbon. Maybe a wire? (I would think a wire would be more "impressed" into the planchet instead of flattening out like it is.

Probably one of the most interesting errors that I have found.
