it was the overdate. Just bought it so these are the only pictures I have. Low grade but would still be a nice pick if it was.
This is from USA Coin Book. The arrows does carry the variety. I'm not sure I see those markers on the OP, but that could be from wear.
unbelievable I have been working on my u s type coins for the past week or so updating my records etc. just returned them to the vault and inventory shows 2 1853 quarters w/arrows one unc and one a2 readable date now I see a trip to retrieve them for closer examination after reading this post
For your own peace of mind you could always do an overlay, but it certainly looks very promising to say the least.
I think there is a bunch of crud in the loop of the 3, so you won't see anything there. However, the shaft of the arrow looks very promising.
I bought this one for $36 (A great deal even if it isn't the overdate). I keep going back and forth on whether it's a late die state of the Overdate or not. These are the best pics I can produce.
Looks like it has something going on within the 8 for sure. Also the post above the arrow looks like it's there....
