I thought the CT members would be interested in a couple of predictions made outside of the group that have a bearing on our interests: This is from The Cagle Post. 3. Oil prices will moderate in 2008. When we say moderate, we mean 60 to 70 dollars a barrel in the late winter and spring of 2008. We expect that if a recession doesn’t show up and global growth continues, oil and gold will both head higher in the fall of 2008. If Hillary Clinton is somehow elected, expect the gold market in particular to enter a new supercharged bull phase. This will be a repeat of the bull market in gold that came after the inauguration of Bill Clinton in 1993 and didn’t stop until Newt Gingrich was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives on January 4, 1995. 4. The dollar will go up in value in 2008. With the economy remaining strong, the Federal Reserve will once again begin to focus on fighting inflation in 2008. When the Fed changes direction and starts to raise interest rates then we will see the start of a new bull market for the greenback. The dollar still has happy days ahead. But longer term inflation will win the battle and return. I supposed these have as much credibility as any fortune-telling.
I agree with that 100% and then some! One thing i always consider when i read statements liek that, they are nothign but a persoanl perception of the original poster. I could do 100 searches on the subject and get 100 completely different responses. If anyone was able to predict with such certainty, they wouldn't tell us! If they did, they might minimize their own profits.
I thought it was sleepwalking. I'm not taking any position on this. It seems to me that a rising dollar and rising gold prices are contradictory; I think a lot of the run up in pricesis due to the fall in the value of the dollar, but we shall see.
Here are my predictions for 2008 1. Whitman will come out with a 2009, 2010 and 2011 edition to the Red Book. Each spaced a Month apart. 2. The Mint will come out with new half dollars for usage in all the vending machines that don't take them. Similar to the baby dollars. 3. China will start producing our coinage. Our government will outsource our monitary system to them. India was actually the first choice but they are to busy with AOL and HP HELP DESKS. All coins will contain Lead 4. Our coins will be produced using Radium so you can see them in the dark when you drop them. 5. Coins will have GPS systems so a wife can keep track of her husband. 6. In order to keep the prices to produce our coinage down, the MInt will authorize a massive reduction in the sizes of all coins. A Quarter wil now be the size of a Dime. A Dime will be the size of an eraser on a pencil. 7. The cent will again be made of Steel. Stainless this time so no Zinc coating required. Note the fear of them being magnetic is pending on the amount of Nickel. High grades of Stainless Steel are non magnetic. All jokeing of course. Or am I?
My predictions for 2008: 2008 will be 365 1/4 days long. I will buy more coins than my wife knows about. She will be mad about the coins she does know I buy. At least 1 major apliance in my house will break.:headbang: Gas prices will shoot up right before I go on vacation. I will use too many smilies.
