P.S> Yes, I know that the 1777 is cleaned and ugly, but try to look beyond that.

    Frank,
Your 1777 coin shows the letters D.A on the reverse. The assayers D.A were active in the Santiagio, Chile mint during that period. I cannot read the mint mark on your coin from the pictures, but if you see an "S" topped by an small "o" on the reverse, that is Santiago. These Chilean colonial coins, specially those of Charles the III are actually quite scarce in conditions VF and above. Even in VG the 1777 Real has abook value of $ 35.
According to the Word coin catalogue the 1 real should weigh 3.38 grams.
    I hope this helps you,
    Eduard

As Eduard mentioned, the top one is from Santiago, Chile. I would be greatly interested in seeing better pictures of it.

    Cheers,

    Roman,
Are you a collector of Chilean coins? This happens to be one of my main numismatic interests.
    Regards,
    Eduard

    Hi Eduard,

Not Chilean, specifically, but I do enjoy late 18th - early 19th Century Central/South American coinage, especially the 8 Reales series.
