So, last time I posted this noone else could see the doubling in it so I'm hoping that maybe these show it in a bit more detail. The windows but mostly it's the bird in the air that I see it's maybe even triple. His tail, heads and fat body. I'm certian this is an error coin. Although I couldn't find it anywhere online yet. I definitely see what you're talking about at the eagle in some of those close-up pictures, but I'm afraid that this is only machine doubling. Machine doubling occurs during the striking process when dies wobble slightly, causing shelf-like doubling in some devices of a coin. This is very common and occurs on all denominations of US coins. These coins have no additional value and they are generally not considered mint errors by collectors. When people use the terms DDO, DDR, doubled die, etc., they are referring to hub doubling. Hub doubling occurs when dies are created and is imprinted in a die, thus showing on all coins struck by that die throughout its lifetime. Here is a good illustration of the difference between machine and hub doubling. The coin on top has machine doubling. The coin on bottom is a true doubled die coin.
Ah okay. Well thank you for clarifying it. For some reason I thought that machine doubling would be on most of the devices instead of just one. My bad. But thank you.
I really think your pictures clarify it in a way that I haven't seen anyone do it this far. I appreciate that
Yes, that is MD. The pics provided by @USCoinCollector42 really clarify the difference between MD and DD. I know a member on another forum who has created diagrams. I need to post some of his here later...
