$2k when you posted terrible pictures of it that made it look like a VF with potential problems. We openly discussed the potential value of it in chat. $1500 as an XF details coin, $15k as a mid range AU. You were right there. You were more than happy with $2k initially. Upon renegotiation, $1500 (for VF details) plus up to an extra god knows how much if it graded AU58, 90% of the sale price since I couldn't pay you fairly for a 58. Don't make me out to be a thief, dude. You agreed to a deal, understood I was getting a good deal on the coin, and you backed out AFTER taking money from me to ship it. You knew the only way you got $1500 out of this was if it went VF details, and that was pretty much a 0% chance.
Basic contingency planning. Plan for all potential outcomes. Each grade from VF35 to AU58 was assigned a value, as well as values for VF details, XF details, and AU details.
So we make a deal without planning for the absolute worst case scenario, let's say PCGS graders are having a bad day, it comes back VF details or something, we're supposed to just figure things out from there? Nah, you go into a deal planning for all potential possible outcomes, and that way there is no problems down the road if the highly improbable happens. Crossing your t's and dotting your i's is basic stuff. Contracts of sale should cover all reasonably foreseeable outcomes, and maybe a couple unreasonable ones too, just in case.
VF... even VF details is not possible with this coin. Not possible whatsoever. Check PCGS photograde.
I know how to grade coins. I agreed it wasn't possible. But why nitpick this? It was there on the off chance something happened. Otherwise, I figured it would grade AU53 or AU55 (after conservation to remove the verdigris) from his pics, in which case he would have been compensated quite well, given all the circumstances involved.
I believe I have legal grounds to file a suit against him, as we had an agreed upon contract of sale with terms and informed consent from both parties, and he took steps to fulfill the contract before backing out. I will be exploring my options in that regard. Adam has my contact information, if he wishes to avoid any legal issues, I've offered him what I feel is a very generous and fair deal where I will handle the grading and sale of the coin for 6% of the final sale price, after fees. I already have a buyer lined up (assuming it grades AU) as well. I'm not going to comment any further publicly.
Sour grapes. Think you tried to take advantage of this member. So your saying 10,000 dollars shouldn't be the point. It's the principal that should apply. Get real
I'll be nice. You are the one that needs to stay out of it. You are late to the party and do not understand anything about this.
I don't think members needs you for that. Who would wants a TPG and a middle man. @Adam95. Stick to your guns. You did nothing wrong IMO.
Hey it's a once in a life time situation. Deserves some leviety. Sorry if i hurt your feeling. I'd stick up for you too. Food on the table is all that matters
