You guys are gonna make me blush. As I type this, that's 6 likes, and I don't have the proper camera adapter yet. That's why the focus is slightly off kilter. For other posters new to posting pictures, this is NOT a USB scope, it's a trinocular scope - two eyepieces for stereoscopic vision and a third to attach a camera, digital OR film. And I will be doing both. Fujichrome hath not forsaken me.
Looks like a few more years in the briefcase would be really fun to see. Album toning is the best kind, particularly when there’s a hint of green imo. I still have no camera, but my new phone does a decent enough job for me.
I set my phone on a Mardi Gras cup to hold it steady and use the three second timer so that I don’t shake the camera. The lighting is just the lights from my ceiling fan. Zoom in slightly and hit the timer, square it off in the editor and that’s it. I suppose a red solo cup (I pick you up, proceed to party) would work just fine, but since I have thousands of Mardi Gras cups, I use that.
I'm using the 3 sec mode with my new scope n' Sony rig, too. So far, I only lost one shot because the cat swiped the coin. He's just that way.
This wasn't actual album toning but it was in the box that had my albums in it. We sold our house in 2015 and all our stuff went to storage for almost 2 years. This was in a manila envelope packed with my other coins.
Manila envelopes are generally know as sulphur laden, so this is not surprising. I have an old Stone Mountain half that is on its own a pretty unremarkable coin, but it’s in an old B Max Manila slip and is just pretty now. The envelope is probably worth more than the AU coin, but I like the history and the fact that this was purchased by my grandfather.
This one's a real pill. In terms of equivalent human development, he's a rambunctious 17-year-old kid, with all the charm of one of those backward ball cap wearers. Thank goodness cats mature faster. I keep half-expecting I'll come home one day and he'll have gotten into my shaving kit and cut himself a Mohawk and built himself a skateboard from random parts. I figure at some point, he'll catch up to me and we can both live out our years giving ALMOST really good advice, with some key flaws. You know... kinda like Doug.
I believe this to be album toning- Like the OP coin, it has a dark cherry/forest green dancing around the peripherals. Not seen in the image
Text message reply fail Anyone else ever done that ? I got a text and typed my response HERE for some reason To save face, heres another album toner-
