I thought I did know the difference between NT and AT. I’ve been collecting toners for 5-6 years now. But some of the newer stuff that’s passing the TPGs is confusing me. It’s stuff that just a couple of years ago wasn’t grading and honestly I didn’t even see the type of stuff anywhere - graded or raw.
People will throw around the idea of market acceptable vs not market acceptable. I think I’ve shifted to “personally acceptable” vs “not personally acceptable.” There are too many coins passing today that just a couple of years ago were difinitive AT coins per forum consensus for me to just trust 100% what TPGs think.

 

$465 on the MS66 Morgan.

 

What’s the sellers name on eBay? There’s one I know of that wins toners at auction on eBay then marks them WAY up as BINs. I’m wondering if it’s the same guy. Most of the stuff is just average or even ugly.

I'm actually impressed. It took over 250 pages for this thread to devolve into the generic AT/NT thread that I've seemingly been reading on forums for the last 15 years.

$375 on the Morgan.

 

Lets not say that forbidden word "Devolve", I'd rather call it a lul, hoping to find some new inspiration. I am still game! Finances have been my biggest enemy lately. There's still plenty of nicely toned pieces out there.

 

Well I think this round went long enough. @bsowa1029 was the closest as his guess was the highest. The Morgan sold for $1028.25 with the buyers fee. This was a recent auction as well, it ended on July 29th of this year.

What did I purchase this 1881-S ICG MS66 for?

The luster and eye appeal are 65 but myself and the opinions of several here believe the grade to be 64 due to the contact marks.

PCGS guide is $75 at MS64 and $145 at MS65.
