1916 Mercury Dime

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by J. David Heine, Aug 9, 2018.

  1. Received this dime as a gift from my Great Aunt Julia in the late 1950s. She still wore the Victorian style dresses...long sleeves...dress to the ankles...high collar...and hair in a bun. Quite stately. What would you grade this coin? WP_20180809_18_07_24_Pro (2).jpg WP_20180809_17_59_52_Pro (2).jpg

    Marvelous definition, though.

I might go AU-55 but it looks like something is going on with the rim. Or is that just an illusion?

Well struck piece. Very sharp first year dime. Absolutely AU.

AU55FB. Have to say that's one of the most well struck mercury dimes I've seen to date.

It's very well struck and a first year coin too. Who knows, it could be one of the first ever struck in that series.

I would have loved to get that one in 1916 to save her from working the street. Great strike.
