I can't find anything on a doubled die but ya never know considering it's fairly newer.

It's looks as though Regan (from the Exorcist) and Michael Jackson had a love child...

I can't get great pics so please bare with me...

    Hi Rachel
I'm not being sarcastic so please do not take offense to what I'm about to say, but if I counted right you posted 40 pics of that coin.

IMO I don't believe that you need so many pics of a coin I understand you are trying to get us to see what your seeing.

But with so many pics IMO alot of people that have the knowledge you need will not spend the time going through so many.

Again it's JMO but I would think that 4 or 5 would be sufficient to get your point across and I beleive that more members would help you.
    (AGAIN JUST MY OPINION)

Okay thanks for your opinion. Just so you knkw, your not required to open each and every picture. I don't know exactly what I should he looking for because a cording to every post I've ever made I have yet to find a doubked due so... Sorry that I'm not sure what one looks like but I know what a count that's not normal looks like and this is one. The only way I can take clear picture is with this little microscope that attaches to my phone and literally can only see one or ywo digit or letter per picture. But thank you for your opinion maybe I should title every post I post (ITS NOT A REQUIRENT TO LOOK AT THIS POST OR OPEN THS PICTURES IN IT). At least that way people don't need to feel like they must always post some response on it that I think I pretty much so MUST read in order to see what others think. I guess my whole problem with this is that I don't understand why everybody feels like it's a requirement to open my posts. Just block me if it bothers you.

Sorry, but I'm just confused here. Dave363 did make a valid point. Usually, posting around 10 pics or less is easier for us. Especially for the members here who have slow Internet speed. ;)

And you are correct, nobody has to open your posts. But the entire point of the Error Coin section is for people to help out.

Anyway, back to the coin in the images. I am mostly seeing Machine Doubling.

Sacagawea *is* carrying her child on her back.

You also may want to learn exactly what a Doubled Die is and how one is actually made and what known ones are out there. It may make your searches much more fruitful.

@RachelRuth Here are some tips on how to tell a Doubled Die from Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling.

Machine Doubling decreases the size of the devices.
A Doubled Die will increase the size of the devices.
Die Deterioration Doubling will appear to "flow" towards the rims or will appear as a "halo" next to the devices towards the rim.

Well Rachel thank you so much for your advice I will ignore all your post from this day forth, and now I'm just another of many that will no longer give you advice.

Every time someone reaches out to you and tries to give you constructive criticism not sarcastic constructive you always have to fire back with an attitude that's fine I got better things to do with my life than help you.

Here are some diagrams that show the difference between Doubled Dies and Machine Doubling created by Coop at the CCF.

The below image shows Machine Doubling. Note how the devices are DECREASED in size and show flat shelf like doubling.

The below coin shows a Doubled Die. Note how the devices are INCREASED in size because of the doubling.

Now, here's a challenge. Using what I have described above about MD, DD, and DDD, tell me if the below coin shows Machine Doubling, a Doubled Die, or Die Deterioration Doubling.

MD. The right leg of the U didn't increase in size. You can actually see where it's skinnier on the higher surface. The die just bounced on the already struck surface and created another indention.

Correct! Many new members think that their coin with MD is a DD coin. These images can really help people who want to understand the difference between MD and DD.

Good post. I bookmarked it for future reference. And I think I understand now what a device is.

    I think.

A device is the design on the coin, like the letters and portrait, for example.

The fields are the empty space on the coin not occupied by the design.
