I need some opinions on these two wheaties. The first is a 30-S and the second is a 39-S. Thanks! This one has a weak obverse strike, but is MS.
One question I have, on the 39S, theres that spot on the rim, it looks like that green stuff. Is that the same stuff that you take care of with Acetone???
The 30-S i know is RB, because its an ex ANACS coin. The obverse has a lot more red on it than the pic shows.
ANACS had it at an 63 RB, but it looked better than that to me. Oh well though. And the green spots on it, uggg, I can't believe my stupidity. I dropped the slab, it cracked open, soi put the coin in a 2x2, and those spots show up a few weeks later......
Well, look into the green spots. Im not positive but I think those are the same green spots that people say you have to dip the coin in acetone to stop them from progressing. But Ive never dipped any coin in anything, so I cant tell ya. But you should look into that, it is a nice looking Lincoln. And it would be a shame if the green spots were allowed to keep growing
Man, very nice coins on both. :thumb: Shame on that corrosion on that 30 S, looks like an easy 64 RB IMO. Still a nice coin, just damaged. I'd say the 39 S is a 64 R, JMO. Beautiful coins. :thumb: Phoenix
Are those blobs on the holder or the coin for the 39-S? If they are on the coin, and I think they are, you would be lucky to get a 63 on it.
Acetone will only remove green that is caused by PVC. And the coin could not have PVC on it or ANACS would not have slabbed it. So acetone will do no good. Besides, copper should not be dipped in acetone - except to remove PVC.
