What was it like being a coin collector in 1948?

    I bet in 1948 they never thought silver coinage would be a thing of the past in less than 20 years.

    I understand. I started out by mowing lawns for $2.50 when I was 13. I would use the money to buy penny rolls at the bank and search for wheat cents.
