    The pillars on the rest of my coins are smooth, unlike these two. I didn't say I struck it rich, but I'm trying to become familiar with everything.

    I think I understand what your saying. The smoothness you are seeing with others is probably wear from circulation or a weak strike.

    Here is an uncirculated lincoln memorial cent

    Notice how the uncirculated one is much more detailed? I think this is what you are seeing with your cents.
