I was wondering, or maybe hoping, if someone else here has purchased the 2008 version of CoinManage coin inventory software. I purchased the software and downloaded it on line and began to enter some of my collection. I had about 300 coins entered into the system and decided to call it a night. The next day I wanted to work on it some more so I opened up the program and noticed that every coin I entered into my inventory had disappeared. Even when I click on "add new coin" in the upper left hand corner, the box still comes up to choose the dates from with the grades and values but there's no list of dates or varieties to choose from. I'm thinking that I hit a key by mistake, but I dont know how to get it back. Theres another drop box that lets you know the current value of what you had entered and that total comes up correct...but none of the coins that I entered. What did I do wrong? Can anyone help?!? Thanks.
I would email Liberty Street, there support has been great. I have not made the update download yet, please keep us posted !!!
OK thanks guys, I'll let you know what I make out. If anyone else has any suggestions or knows how to troubleshoot this problem, please let me know.
I'm still using the 2007 version. Couple of questions. 1. When you "called it a night", did you shut it down and did it appear to shut down normally? 2. What info did you enter for each coin? Did you also add pictures? 3. Did you try to do a listing or look up one of the coins you had entered while you were entering the 300 coins? By this, I mean did you check any of them that first night before you shut down? The fact that you get the total is good news. There are several databases and if that's there, then the rest is probably there.
Liberty may or may not get back to you. they haven't been responsive to me for the last several months.
I use the 2007 version. I was finding a similar problem, in that I was entering data that never seemed to get to my final list, but I could see it on the list I generate prior to hitting 'apply'. Coin data seems to get hung up in the entry phase if you don't apply each data point (coin) one at a time. I don't know if this explanation fits your specific problem.
I am using the 07 version as well and have no desire to upgrade to the 08. The support on the product is non-existent. I will manually enter my new 08 sets as they come out. It sounds like your database is not being directed to the correct path. Go to tools, preferences and see where the database directory is located. Go to that directory and see if there is a file in there called. coindesp.mdb If that is there check the date on it. It should coinside with the day that you were working on the program. If not let me know.
I have the '07 version and after reading these posts, I think I'll just stick it away and go back to using my MSWord spreadsheet. I spent about a month inserting all my coins when I got the program originally and guess what files I forgot to backup when I reformatted my computer last month?!!? Once was enough and I'm actually relieved that I won't be doing all that entering again.
I'll have to check out all of the things you guys suggested. The program is downloaded on my laptop. I'll get it out in a little bit and work with it.
Wow, 2 people with support opinions drastically opposite that of mine. I had email's 2 times for issues, and received help in 24 hours.
OK...to answer your questions... 1. When I shut the computer down I did as I always do. I close the program and turn the power off. 2. When I entered each coin, I first chose the date from the list then chose the grade and price paid, if I remembered it. 3. I didnt even think to check my list before I shut my computer off for the night. I just checked again and the total is still there so I figure the info that I entered is still in there also....somewhere. I'll try to post the page of my CM 2008 program to show you.
OK...its not the best and it may not help but heres a few shots of the page I'm having trouble with....
