After 3 weeks, I finally got my first box of halves from my bank. I picked up the first roll (machine rolled) and glanced at it to see which end I wanted to open. There was old Benjy was staring me right in the face. Man, I ripped that roll open so fast, but the rest of it was just common jfk's. Wow, what are the odds of that happening? It almost makes me sad, like there is nowhere to go but down.
Well, I just couldn't help myself. Even though I said to myself that I was going to examine each roll, one coin at a time, after my Ben begining, I was like a kid at Christmas time. I just had to fast forward through every roll. Results: 1960 - 1 1964 - 2 1965 - 1 1966 - 3 1967 - 6 1968 - 6 1969 - 1 -------- Total 20 I now have a standing order at the bank; one box a week. Now to go back and really look at the rest.
i've actually heard of people finding walkers staring at them at the end of the roll. its always better to have a eagle looking at you than a creepy old man at the end of the roll.
I've gotten rolls of cents and had wheat ears on both ends of the rolls.....with common zincs in the center
It took all day, but I finally finished going through the box coin-by-coin. I found a few to fill a couple of holes, 3 or 4 upgrades to my space fillers, a 1987d, 2003d plus another 1965 that I missed on my first pass. So my new silver total stands at 21 out of 1000. (2.1%). May all your results be better than mine. :thumb: Jon
Lol, the last time I went thru a $500 box of halves I only found 5 silver clad in the whole thing. That's 0.5%. And nothing pre-Kennedy at all. Consider yourself lucky to get a 2% success rate.
