Can we get copper pennies in our proof sets like we did in 2009?

    Ask the mint ;)
I doubt they will do it any time soon though.

We could bug the hell out of our congressmen until they do it.

    Nope.

Copper is made to last, zinc is made to rot.

The zinc pennies are coated with pure copper. And copper is also highly reactive. Copper is absolutely not made to last - it is only more traditional than other choices.

We should ask to make them out of steel!

If Congress is going to actually consider coinage requests, then I'd rather ask them to make it out of sulver.

We could do that and get a silver penny like Canada did in 2012.

Not sure if you are requesting silver or sulfur. Neither is ever going to happen ;)

I prefer my coins to be manufactured from the bones of my enemies.
As a souvenir of my kill.

Yep, in 1998 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Canadian mint, and in 2002 for Elizabeth II 50th year of reign. There may be others after that.

    Steel would rust over time.

Making them out of gold would be better. ;)

just have to make sure the size of the Cent, is of the size that it only contains up to 1 cent of gold at any given time during production. o_O :stop:
