Listen to me carefully. You do not have any 1982-D small date bronze. Only one exists. In order to have “all 8”, you would have to add the 1982-S proof. “All 8” are worth basically NOTHING, TOGETHER AS A SET, unless they are ALL Mint State. If you find the one guy in the whole world who has the 1982-D small date in bronze, and steal HIS, it’s probably a high six-figure coin.

Now I know a lot of inexperienced collectors will read this and say, “Wait, there CAN’T be only ONE; there HAS TO BE more out there, and I can FIND THEM!”

No. That’s not true. There CAN be only one, really there can. There’s not any reason for ANY to exist. It is the result of the freakiest circumstances EVER! Think of it as an “industrial accident”, or a wiseacre creating one intentionally.

I'd collect them from Mint Sets, if at all.

collecting regular circulated coins and paying a premium for them just doesn't make much sense unless it's very inexpensive. Especially ones that are in bad overall condition (cleaned, etc etc).

I think the last time the 82-D small date copper was sold, it brought 5 figures.
But since no others have been discovered, it will go for more the next time it comes to auction.

Hmm. One fly in the ointment. There were no mint sets in 1982.

You travelled that far looking for the coin/s? Whatever you found in your travels, I dig it... still the same “do” except for the vintage viking beard... cheers big bro. Ha

Nah, it was just a smalltime fencing competition. We had to make our own clothes and junk, but still...

Just for future reference, my friend, there are sites online that have information, but it depends on what you need to know. Here, is where you will get honest feedback and answers, advice, and expert information. I really think everyone that has helped me with questions are knowledgeable, and just a great group of collectors . I am new and I appreciate the wealth of knowledge from the members here on Coin Chat. Lisa G

I like this site, I have jedi’s, real coin collectors, penny pinchers, coinneseurs, stellar ones and ones that has been collecting since breakfast, give me their two cents, like yourself, though some speak in riddles, some blunt, and some careful to how they say things, how they state their mind and opinion does not matter to me as long as they are teaching, correcting, mentoring, motivating, and inspiring others with facts and more knowledge about our coins. Coins to me means more than just currency we all use to buy neccesities and materials with, to me, they are part of history, and owning the right ones, is like having a piece of that part of history in our collection. Though our taste buds maybe different in what we look for in our coins to even what type of coins we look for. No matter how we see them, the connection we all have is that we see them...From penny pinchers to coin hoarders, we have a thing for coins. I look forward to seeing more coins, owning more and learning more about them, with you all... salut!

    Very Respectfully

Well, first it’s a large date, but what it is placed on?

I looked at it in a microscope good sir and there are damages around the 2 area, so I am thinking it is a placebo coin... but it is a copper coin. Man, I thought I had one... your comment if it being only one, I hear each coin roll I go through, like a motivator to find the coin... lol about to move on to another date of rarity. But on the bittersweet end of the stick, I just wanted to say you are indeed one of so many master jedi’s in coinaging. I thank and salute you sir.
