So, I bought this coin for $45 a few months ago, and I don't know if it is real or not. I don't want to spend $65 sending it to NGC or PCGS for grading and get it back as fake. Please help me identify if this coin is real or fake. It is the right weight, the right size (I compared it to a real Morgan dollar), and there are no obvious mess-ups in the details that would scream out "FAKE!!!" With a mintage of 100,000 it's not real for $45. Weight is a little heavy although within tolerance. I'm not a Morgan guy, but do you really believe you got a $5000 coin for $45? "It was my grandmother's coin, and I don't know anything about coins."
Regarding the price of $45, I bought it in England from a seller who "knew nothing at all and didn't know if it was fake or not."
The seller knew 100% it was fake. I imagine he got cheated, after finding out it was bad. And passed the savings on to you.
