1941 S Jefferson with lamination error plus?

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by J. David Heine, Aug 5, 2018.

  1. Have a 1941S Jefferson found CRH. To the left of the face, 7 o'clock to 12 o'clock, is a lamination error. But what is to the right of the forehead? Need your expertise please.

Hi David. I'm not too up on the lamination errors. What I believe you have to the right is an IDB. Internal Die Break. Overall, the coin you have, to me, is a pretty awesome coin! Where did you find that one at?

I suppose it could be a detached lamination. But the area is so large that it
looks like damage, but it also looks like the valuable Large S.

  5. Hi Bambam8778...Found it CRH from a box of nickels purchased at a local bank.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Looks to me like a delamination and a die break. Good catch if it is.

Yours appears to have those large serifs on the S.
Delam, die break and a possible large S.

It is a little circulated but appears to have the large serifs which is the good variety
of the 1941-S along with all the other stuff. This coin is a keeper.

That would be cool if it had a die break. By the looks of it, I would wonder if it was a folded piece of the lamination.

    Very awesome coin.
Would need a good close-up photo of the left side of the
raised metal on Tom's head. The lamination could also break through the cud, as the lamination error was there before the strike. Sound right?

Unfortunately, that is the small "S".

Nice Lam! It was a folded piece of the lamination. Congrats! on a very nice find.

I am thinking lamination. Don't try and peel that lamination back. The gunk around the edge adds to the authenticity of the piece.
