Found this gem CRH an eBay coin roll purchase. Any thoughts on value would be welcome. The obverse looks as if it has pock marks, but looking at the coin with the naked eye does not appear that way. Could it be the lighting for the pic? Coins certainly do not have acne. Not sure what the blue color my be. Toning?
Texture on the obverse is very bad. Reverse looks good. IDK if it is even a real 1911 cent. Maybe it's the light but the 1's look off.
Welcome to Coin Talk. Your coin may have have been chemically cleaned and all those little spots are from corrosion that has been removed/dissolved. It is quite bright for its age and wear. I think your coin should be a chocolate brown. 25¢ sound good to me too.
Honest question, are you being facetious calling this a gem? It's a damaged, cleaned, and possible chemically treated cent. In terms of value, none really, it would be a spender for me. You can buy a vf with nice original surfaces for $2.00.

While it is scratched up now from cleaning, the amount of detail on the wheat stalks makes me think that this was in someone's collection before it was released into the wild. As almost all Lincolns of this age found in circulation will be worn slick.
In a close up of the obverse of your coin, I'm leaning towards heat causing the discoloration, or Bluish color you referred to.
It wasn't an end coin. Makes me wonder if the seller was "stacking the deck" to make it look like the coin roll was legitimately unsearched. I've learned the hard way about ebay "unsearched" coin rolls.
Ebay coin roll. What's that something special that never saw the light of day in 100 years? Or circulated coins put together and sold. If this coin was seeded inside the roll (likely) it was put there because while it looks nice, it has no value because it is so severely damaged. I think .25 cents is high. And they look like a good guy cause there's an early Lincoln in there.
