I collect commemoratives and presented at a coin club meeting. Upgrading these to 66 levels make a lot of sense.

Here’s one from my favorite series. Not surprising for a Texas native.

And the old gold commemoratives are grand coins in their own right (and also a strain on the collecting budget).

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The problem with the commems is that there are so many of them, and many of the designs are just plain boring. There are a few cool designs, and when you can find them nicely toned they are attractive - but the vast majority of the early commems are just kinda.... meh.

Here is the only one I own, graded NGC MS65 * PL

The early commemoratives seem to have a little more appeal to me since it is a closed set and pretty much a known quantity to collect. I have purchased a few of the newer ones, but not to collect just for bullion value back when prices were much lower and the Mint premiums were more reasonable.

This one is interesting because I don't know if it would pass the smell test. Bright rainbow toning that has the same intensity on both sides always sends an alarm bell up for me. This one also has two different patterns on each side, which in the Morgan world would also be a danger signal. I have seen PCGS reject a lot of these for questionable color.
