My wife was given this today as change. I have never seen anything like this. Year is 1975 with no mint mark. It appears to be gold plated and is heavier than a normal penny. I would love to know the history behind this and is it worth anything? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Not worth much, if anything. One of those with the state outline and abbreviation counterstamped on it. Yours looks like an Indiana one. Gold plated may have cost the customer extra but has not held to be a good value.

The gold plating on this cent looks thicker than what I usually see when a coin has been plated. You might have something that is worth a decent cent or two depending on how much gold is on the coin. How much does the cent weigh?

Cool penny man! Keep it just for the sake of it being different. It may not be worth much, but it looks lucky to me. Cheers. On the side note, let me know if you want to buy all 50 of them for 50-75 bucks. 51 lucky coins man including yours. Ha.

That was a lot of polishing.... anyone ever tried to wax their coin, polish it, make them like this one? I sure would love to refurbish a couple of coins.
