Here is a very nice example of a error coin in my opinion, thought I would share it with the group and see what their reactions are, yes it is real and being sent off to PCGS, all comments on this find would be greatly appreciated and thoughts! 28908155_841442122731298_1867956137_n.jpg

I was shocked when I seen it as well, I researched all over the web at coin sites and even talked to a few dealers I know, it is 1 of 1 in the world right now, so I'm a happy camper for what I got it for, seen a lot of error coins but nothing like this!

I believe this would be called double struck. Not sure. Image of the reverse?

could have been triple struck as you can see there are 3 outlines of the coat and 3 images of his face, or maybe the die rotated and it stuck then struck it over 3x's, hard to say, waiting to see what is stated from PCGS and their findings.

I'd be curious to see the outcome.
What does the Reverse look like ?

I had to go into camera to find other images of the penny, here they are...

Looks like it might be struck thru
a thinning die cap, and the cap
    shifted.

It's not a double struck coin, from what I
    can see.

Not double nor triple die.. Just triple struck
And no its not the only one known in existence. There have been other examples over the years.

I have yet to see one like this, and I appreciate your reply and respect it as well, you could be right, but until I see one like this, I'll just keep researching till I find a Lincoln like this. Thanks for your reply again!!

Not could.. I am right.. I have been collecting Mint Errors for almost 32 years. I have seen even Quadruple Struck Cents
Here are 2 examples.. Not my coins -

By the way.. I don't think your Cent is an authentic Mint Error. I think it's a fake o_O
My reasoning.. The reverse shows no sign of tripling.. But that's just my opinion.

Your opinion is your opinion and your entitled to it, but first you state it is not triple nor double, but triple struck, and now you come back with "fake", I'll just wait for it to be reviewed by PCGS, their opinion matters, since Heritage Auctions also stated their opinion to have it sent off along with other reputable coin dealers, but thanks for your opinion anyway..

After I carefully reviewed the Reverse side I changed my mind. If there is no doubling or tripling on the Reverse then you must ask yourself why? There should be if there is evidence on the Obverse. Can't strike 1 side more than once without the other side also being struck more than once.
Make sure you get back to us with your PCGS submission results.

I sure will paddyman98, it does make me curious as to why there is no doubling or tripling on the Reverse, but for this to be fake it is very hard to believe after close examination of the penny in hand under scope, it actually looks like it stuck and rotated, if you look at the coat on Lincoln , the outlines are way to perfect and viewing at angles it shows strike rotated, not sure but curious, so once it does come back I will post results, also been collecting since I was a kid and have a huge collection of old currency/paper/denari's/civil war era etc...Thanks for the advice.
