Hello! I'm so glad I found this community! I've recently acquired a brothel token from Reno that really looks different from everthing that I've ever seen before. I'm inclined to think its a fantasy coin but I'm not sure yet. Can anyone confirm or maybe give more details about it? I can't find anything online! Thank you very much, B

I've been looking around for some answers and I think that it's probably a fantasy coin The book states that "some actual large-size brothel coins came into being in Nevada during the early 70s. Most earlier genuine tokens used in brothels were drink tokens or slot machine tokes." The author also says that it was unconceivable at the time to put names and descriptions on tokens because business was supposed to be discreet. That last part actually makes sense...
There are real current .999 silver rounds that are sold as souvenirs at the current ranches and thru other venues in the state and online As you found out6 the only true tokens used in the day were for slots and drinks and general as with other saloon tokens given out as change unless the customer asked for real money. I have posted the web site on here before and was taking heat for it as he does have some revealing pictures of the rounds on site. You should be able to google it fast enough!
As far as I know there are NO genuine brothel tokens good for the services of the house. All genuine tokens from the brothels are for drinks at the bar etc. Thatonly goes for US brothels, there are genuine tokens from some French brothels, and there are ancient roman tokens that are believed to be brothel tokens.
