Did the dealer even go through them? There could have been lesser common pre-1935 funny back notes, Hawaii notes, North Africa notes, notes with cool serial numbers, stars, etc.

I've found that coin dealers in general tend to be ignorant and even arrogant with collecting interests and values beyond the denotative (surface) level beyond what their personal interest and experience is in.

I recall last year upon sorting out my grandfather's estate my mother found an ancient Greek coin that my grandfather had paid $200 for. It was brought to a local coin shop for evaluation but the dealer hardly looked at it and said it wasn't worth anything. While I wasn't there, I suspect the dealer had no real knowledge or experience with ancient coins; I plan to have the coin properly evaluated once it is found in storage.

Understandable, but, as a dealer, he must see so many, it is 99% of the time, a waste of his time, and if he misses something...eh... On the other hand I would love to be able to stand there and make counter offers...:hungry:
