So far so good. The fire is getting smaller, but its very stressful watching the news and seeing the developments. The fire changes direction constantly, and every time I figure its going away from us it moves a little closer on another front. Its now 20% contained, but thats no consolation to the families who lost 874 homes so far and I think 7 people dead. I've posted a few pics here, but one can google 'carr fire' and see the sadness contained there.

 

It is so sad.

 

Its crazy. The impact is not just the obvious, but the simple and plebeian. My son had a ortho appointment on Thursday but their office burned down.

 

I remember when the Baldwin Hills Dam broke in LA (Dec 14, 1963). I was only seven years old and of course it impacted a lot of people directly in a very bad way and not my family, as we lived in Westchester, near the airport. But my mom was going to buy me nice red shoes before Christmas and I did not get them because this collapse destroyed the route she would have taken into Beverly Hills, where the shoe shop we went to for nice shoes was. I really wanted those shoes. They would have been similar to these:

 

Terrible stories, how can this happen every year! Scary...

 

I saw one of those fires and they are extremely dangerous. Your safety is more important than all else. Take care Ken and God bless!

 

One of the unfortunate side effects of climate change are extreme weather events such as this. Currently California burns while the East coast floods. It will only get worse as the decades go by.

 

That's absolutely terrible, I wish the best for you and everyone else out there. Keep up posted. I saw the story on the news tonight of the grandfather who lost his wife and grandchildren, heartbreaking. I was trying to think if there we any members from Greece, that was a horrible fire situation as well.

Scary stuff @Ken Dorney . I'm glad to hear it is getting better.

We went through a similar scare last year here in Montana. Not as bad as yours. We were put on evacuation notice though. Meaning be ready to leave at a moments notice. So I know how you must be feeling right now. Please remember this though, Things can be replaced PEOPLE can't.
