Is this improper cleaning?

Here is a coin from my first batch. Are the lines scratched into the surface improper/too tough cleaning. I also see 2 bright spots where the patina was went thru. Any recommendations on how to prevent this.

I am re photographing coins I and my helper cleaned last year and a few have these marks. Sad. Lesson learned.

Hi Britannia... I suggest you read this thread here... has a link to a very interesting document on cleaning bronze coins..

I say it is interesting - I am no expert to state that you should follow the processes outlined in the document. My suggestion is that you read all you can and make your own determination.

Yep some scratching but still a coin with some nice detail. I like it.

 

I'm really kicking myself in the az for not being more patient.....

 

I got these 2 recently and was just amazing at the cleaning detail. No scratches at all.
