Have the commemoratives for 2008 been announced yet? I know the American Bald Eagle is one, has a second one been annouced yet? If not, i was reading the legislation for the NASA 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act at Thomas.gov (just type in commemorative coin or somethign similar and search the results) it calls for 9 different designs to share a 300,000 maximum mintage. The designs they describe in the Act sound pretty cool to me. If not for 2008, it does sound like it could produce some interesting coins!
if i remember correctly that coin will be coming out in 2008 and will cost a bunch as one coin inthat series is gold or platinum i cant rememebr which
if you are reffering to the NASA coins, yes there is a gold coin involved. this is what the act i read said about the gold coins: 'Issuance of Gold Coins- Each gold coin minted under this Act may be issued only as part of a complete set with 1 of each of the 9 $1 coins minted under this Act.' so it will only be possible to get the gold coin, IF one buys the set, but it will be possible to get all the silver without buying the gold.
yea and there was also supposed to be a specially designed caske for holding all of the coins. it will be beautiful when it comes out and should at least 1.5 grand if not more
thekiller on the NASA set is that the gold coin is a $50 1 ounce coin. It would be more available to collectors like myself to be quarter ounce or even tenth ounce. With SO many gold coin options hitting the collector base, when will it all fold?
it 'could' be a pricey set 'if' it is selected as 2008's second commemorative, which i am unsure which of the 5 or so choices has been selected if any. The legacy set would be cool i didnt even think of that!!! does anyone know if a second commem has been slected yet? and if so, which one it is?

wel, thanks for that info but i really want to know first, what the second commem is, if any the price of the gold coins is out of my reach - i try not to think about it
