Hey, you think my hometown is a slouch? Well yes, it's all that and LESS, but that's another story for another time.
I picked up three yesterday at the Philly Mint. I looked through about 15 sets before I found the ones I thought were really, really nice.
Simple statistics and demographics make it almost certain that multiple German speakers have, in fact, died waiting for the verb to finally come around.
I'd say more about German, but Mark Twain has already given it a treatment no living mortal could hope to best.
Still available from Mint. Prices seem to be coming down on eBay. A flipping bonanza doesn’t appear in the cards.
Mine got here today. The case makes them difficult to photograph. Maybe someone with better equipment can post some photos.
I ordered 3 sets late in the day (around 6 hours after release) and paid for overnight shipping. Needless to say, the sets just do not jump out at me but I had to get some anyway for my Kennedy collection. I wish the US Mint would change their "proof coin" designs such that they really pop. By that I mean, rounded, high speed designs just don't do it anymore. These things are produced under higher and slower tonnage presses than coins intended for circulation yet the mint uses the same designs? No squared edges just rounded junk. Compare a 2018 Proof Lincoln with a 1964 Proof Lincoln. Both are the same basic design on the obverse but the 64 has nice, high relief, crisp tooling while the 2018 is just flat and boring. For the prices they charge, you'd think that some effort would be put into the product.
