You can call them or place your order via the web site. $19.95 each and total production of 25,000 sets.

I was hoping for something a little better. The medal is interesting, but I already have the handshake/keelboat nickels and the Sac dollar isn't all that appealing.

Thanks for the heads-up. I bought one to have in the collection.

Ordered one this evening with a gift certificate my son had gotten me last June. Any time the mint offers something with a 25,000 limit is probably a good buy. We will see!

Thnaks for the heads-up. I just ordered one. The production of only 25,000 may make this a pretty good buy. Only time will tell.

When these sets come in let us know if the coins have any special finishes, like matte proof or burnished.

I called the U.S. Mint this morning to correct one of my orders, and the lady mentioned that the Westward Journey set had sold out (25,000 sets in one day, that's what happens when you don't limit the number of sets dealers can buy...), but the set is still available at the web site. I wonder if they taking extra orders in case someone backs out, or if have they forgotten to update the web page.

It is NOT available on the web site any longer. Apparently a sell out!

I got curious since this set sold out in less that two days. Check out the flurry on eBay:

I figured there would be some who would presell these sets before they got them and I was right, but what I found interesting was that there are some people who picked this set up at the Mint store in Washington and actually already have them.

I just checked my order status on the Mint's web site and my set has been backordered with shipment expected around 1/23. I guess they still need to get mine stamped out!

aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggg. I was going to buy this on the opening day but didn't see paying the price. Just once I'd like to buy something I like before the price goes up.

Sorry everyone, but since I did buy 10 of the 2005 proof sets, they are sure to be the highest mintage thus far. :D

I ordered on the first day and my set is also backordered with shipment expected to be 1/21/05.

I hope I actually do get one!

Considering that they were available on the web site for two days (although their CS rep. told me that they had been sold out the first day), I would feel pretty confident to get the sets if you ordered early the first day.

I ordered right after they started taking orders and my sets are also backordered.

Considering the low number of sets available and the fact that there was no limit on the number of sets ordered, I'm not surprised that the sets sold out so quickly. I talked to my regular dealer and he had ordered 500 (!) sets. No wonder that it sold out...

One person with 2% of the issue...

I think it is wrong that one person/dealer can buy so many sets, but I understand why he made the investment. If he sells the sets for $50 each, he will make a $15,000 profit.

    Tulips, anyone?

These things happen whenever the Mint sells out of something. The speculation is immediate. Usually there are enough for everyone who really wants them; the issue is more one of how the items are distributed than how many were made. Once some time has passed and these things get more distributed, the tulips may wither.
