5 cent error coin

Hi to all went to the bank yesterday sorting coins out would like to know could anyone tell me could this be an error and how it happened I'm only new at all of this with coin thanks

Someone had too much time on their hands and access to something like a sander/grinder. Sorry, but your coin is just damaged.
