Is this an error or PKD? I have to be more specific when I post a picture! I think it's starting to irritate other members for just showing my finds!
All I see as stated is a regular circulated nickel I can only assume that PKD you meant PMD right. Dave
Maybe some Die deterioration or dies slightly out of parallel causing the weaker rims. Not unusual on nickels from the 80's. BTW: Nothing wrong with sharing your finds. Just note that you're sharing and not asking for ID help. Also, it may help if you questions are a little more specific. For example "Is the weak rim on the obverse and reverse due to PMD or something in the minting process?"
Just a thought. I see weak areas of the rim on BOTH sides BUT not opposite each other. Is it possible that the coin was struck shortly after the press run was set up and final adjustments in die alignment were necessary?
I have been told that the secret to finding gold is you have to go through a lot of dirt. The second secret is...you are not looking for the dirt...!
Hey sis. Ask your questions. If they don't like it they can not answer. That simple. Enjoy your coins and share you finds
There is always a learning curve for people who are just getting in to the hobby. Don't be afraid to post something with a question, we love to help out IF we see you are making an effort to learn. Point out what you are seeing as some others have said. The knowledge comes with time so take every opportunity you can to learn as much as you can! Don't be afraid to post photos, I still post for help and I've been doing this for a little while now. I guess more for reassurance. I don't find errors as often as others do. This site has a lot of great people and very knowledgeable.
Bud and I enjoy looking at coins and yours do not irritate us in the least. Keep posting and Bud and I will continue to enjoy them... < - Bud enjoying coins
