I know the NGC grade so I won’t participate. This coin is certainly a beauty, but strike and luster could be better. Here’s a great article on grading WLHs: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/walking-liberty-half-dollars-grade-768277
I’ve been struggling with this one too. I’m surprised by some of the high guesses. First look made me think AU 55, but it might just be a really weak strike combined with mottled toning on the obverse. It’s most likely in an MS holder though so I’ll guess MS 64
Add me to the list that thinks everyone is crazy. Based on the photos, the coin is completely devoid of luster. It is a dipped out specimen with a secondary toning and though it is tough to determine whether weak strike or high point wear, I would assume that NGC would net grade this coin to MS62 even if they think it is uncirculated. MS62 is my max grade.
I'm not sure if it's AU58 or as high as MS65 (based on the absence of contact marks) tough call from images posted...
Some of you hit the nail on the head. It's a tricky one, indeed. My photo made the coin's look a little washout. But I don't think it was cleaned. I purchased this coin recently from Micbraun, and I paid a little more than book value. But I Like it, since it's definitly a Superior example for the grade. Thanks for playing.
