On 1917 is this a die break it was written on the card my grandpa had 83 can you have the die markers big ones still not be the ddo example this 83 has the crack for wddo 6 between It and i cant see it on front can you
You need a much clearer picture of the 1917. I think I actually see a Lamination issue and not a Die Break. There is a difference.
Yes "die markers " can be similar on many NON-identical or related coins, because each design has specific stress points that can either cause or allow similar marks or breaks, etc. to be more likely to form at that specific point. Find a suspected DD or whatever first , and then check for any die markers. Almost never is a coin valuable if the primary aspect is missing or hazy, but all of the "die markers are there". Rather like saying a Kia is a Mercedes because it has 4 wheels and a similar look. Jim
