Thanks for the comments alurod and Pickin an Grinin. I have often wondered where the cut off line between chip & break is. I guess it's subjective.

A retained interior die break still has it's intended detail. The die chip or break is loose but hasn't fully come loose from the die face. I call most everything that has to do with the loss of metal, ie a die crack or chips missing an IDB.
