Rather lik buying A new car only to find a deep scratch in the paint. I too would have expected better.... Big thumbs up to the CT’rs generous offers to the OP.

Not really. If you buy a new car at least you are in the showroom or on the lot looking at the car in person. Any flaws can be addressed right there before you leave the lot and you can decide to buy or not based on those known flaws.. If you didn't see the scratch while you were looking at it and bring it up that's your fault.

If you buy a new car online and have it delivered and it has a scratch on it when it arrives, all you have to do is get a hold of whatever company you bought it from before you accept delivery. Most of the time the delivery truck's company or the auto dealer's/maker's insurance will cover the damages for you.

Well, as I think I said, I wasn't expecting a certain "grade" because I'm not into grading coins. I just expected one without obvious damage. While the seller may have technically lived up to the letter of the deal, it seems to me like if I'm selling from a group of coins and one has obvious damage, I just don't sell that one. You have to expect there's a good chance the buyer is going to complain.

I appreciate the offer, but I took Sonlarson up on his generous offer. I feel kind of bad taking freebies from members though when I can afford to buy my own coins and there are probably some teens on here who would love to have it.

BU and Unc are the same thing. Brilliant Uncirculated means just that. If someone advertises a toned coin as BU, that is incorrect. Brilliant isn't a grading adjective for quality like Choice or Gem.

    I always thought it went.

    UNC MS60-62
    BU MS63-64
    Gem MS65 and up

It's a life game called "pay it forward". Tag, you're "it".

Funny thing about Littleton-if you sell to them they will cherry pick the best looking ones and return the ones that don't "meet their standards." I agree they sell a lot of junk. Wonder where they sell the "good" ones?

Kennedy portraits, on coins, should look like JFK before the assassination, not after.

When it says, here, that someone has been awarded a Trophy, is that a nice "honour", or just a joke ???

It's an automatic feature of the software. It ends at 113.

Actually the last few things I have ordered from Littleton have been "sets" of modern dollar coins - $6 for 6 dollar coins. The quality has not been bad.

Are you understating, or is that as tepid as it sounds?

MS60-MS70 are all Unc and BU (as long as they're not toned).

I'm confused, what does toning have to do with it?

If I had cherry-picked from a new roll I might have done better, but no marks making them objectionable. Plus, I don't know where else I could get these for face value, no matter what condition.

BU stands for Brilliant Uncirculated. If it is toned, it is no longer brilliant. It should be noted as TU.

You are the only person I’ve read saying that.
