If I recently acquired a certified coin from an LCS and wish to have the digital picture that goes with it, how do I go about finding that picture?
If there is one, it would be taken by the TPG that graded it. Go to the TPG's web site and look up that coin by the number on the slab, and that should show you the image.
PCGS had no image with it, does that mean the person did not accept the true view package? And can you access the ngc website? It aint loading for me
To my knowledge you have to pay extra for the photos from pcgs, so I'm going to guess whoever slabbed it didn't pay for photos. I could be wrong on the details of that though, but certainly not every pcgs slabbed coin has images. NGC is loading for me, at https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/
I believe PCGS provides digital pictures only if you pay for the TrueView imaging service. From the PCGS website. . .
If it's PCGS, there will only be a photo if someone paid for it (or submitted under a tier that included the photo). If it's NGC, they have scans for all coins (I don't recall when they started automatically doing it, but it's been a while now). For either one, you would go to the cert verification page and enter the cert number to see if a picture is available.
NGC has been photographing every coin they grade for about 10 years now. PCGS only photographs if you 1 pay for it, or 2 use a tier that comes with a photo, or 3 the coin grades as a top pop and gets pictured on Coinfacts. For awhile they also showed pictures of coins that were in Registry sets with pictures. Not sure if they still do that.
I wonder if PCGS will ever at some point accept an image for a certified coin that didn't have the image paid for during certification?
They should have the coin photographed guaranteed when you submit. Would make the $30 price tag a bit more acceptable
