I was wondering if you could tell me what this kind of error is and if its worth anything. The "L" in LIBERTY is missing. On the reverse side on the left outer edge where the words E PLURIBUS UNUM is the mirror image of the top half of the words "WE TRUST" stamped, and weighs 2.9. There are also issues with the uneven edge/rim. Please let me know your thoughts, thank you Lisa G.
67 years old Imagine if you drove your car for that long The wear and tear and abuse it would take. That’s what has happened to the cent you have. Compare it to a brand new cent and look at how it has lost crisp details, edges are worn down, misc damage, etc. that’s all you are seeing.
The reverse is interesting. I think if you post clearer pictures of the entire coin it would get more replies. (Don't crop part of the coin out of the picture)
Thank you, I will try to upload better pics. Got an android and the pics are ok but that is all I've got to work with. Lol! Thank you for your reply
Clawcoins..are you saying the "L" is missing because of age? I guess my pics are not too good....will submit better ones. Thanks for your reply
I don't know I these are any better but I changed the lighting a little. Hope you can see the detail better. Why would it weigh 2.9?
Been on my phone Guessing grease filled die for the lack of L. The die doesn’t shape shift so probably grease filled the L which prevented it from forming. There’s a lot of wear on that cent but still nice considering.
I first thought this was once an encased cent but the reverse lettering next to the left wheat changed my mind.
Okay...so it isn't worth more than 1 cent? Looks really cool and much different in person.. Anyone know why it would weigh 2.9?
Its a copper cent that detered, so it lost a few centigrams due to deterioration. It did it beautifully in my opinion. For it now looks very unique and appealing. Cheers.
