I get to pick it up tomorrow. An S-221 100 over 000. I wish it was Friday already.

XF-ish. And I'm laudably unqualified due to to my inebriated state.

A nice, solid Draped Bust cent for your first copper, Randy.
And, an interesting variety to boot. Congratulations!

OK... Here is the reveal. Couple of things. First off the holder is horribly scratched so she isn't as photogenic as she should be. I'll spend some time with some polishing compound this weekend and see if I can't clean that up a bit.

Secondly, I do believe the grader that blessed her with a VF20 was in a very generous mood that day. Now I am not near as educated on early coppers as I am other US coinage, but if this were any other piece I would say it is over graded. I have read that often these early pieces do get a bump and this may very well be an example of that.

I find it odd that the heavier wear is on the perimeter of the piece. The date is quite worn however her hair still has much detail. The 100/000 error is readily apparent. If my tired eyes can see it without a loop, that is saying something.

In the end. I am quite tickled to own this piece of history that I could only dream about for so many years. There are several favorite pieces that travel with me back and forth to work and sit on the edge of my computer during the work day. And she will be joining that select group!

I wasn't expecting that. Just looked up what they go for. It's a four figure coin.

I didn't give near that for it. I had my dealer on the look out for a while for a draped bust copper. When he called me with this one and told me what he had in it... I jumped.
