That date does not look like it needed restoring to me. He may have ruined a perfectly good - and very valuable - coin.

WOW!!!!! I was expecting to see like $60 for a 13S type 2 or something like that. But thats redicculous. I sold a full roll of restored date buffalos on ebay once and was amazed to get $40. I stated very clearly that they were all acid restored. They were just some I restored because I wanted to play with the Nic A Date. But Ive seen alot of key dates and semi key date restored coins go for way more than they should.

The date was not restored - the entire coin was. I would guess with vinegar. That is why all of the details show.

If the date was gone I have no problem with it. He probably bought the thing for a dime and made just a teeny bit more than that.

He did state is was restored. If someone wants to pay $700 plus that is their decision.

I agree with clembo. Even though he didn't say that it was an acid date persay, restored still would tell me something IMO. Might be a lesson learned for the buyer. I don't want to sound harsh or anything, please don't take me as that, but this is where some common sense should kick in IMO. JMO. BTW, I agree, looks like it was soaked in vinegar for a few weeks.

As clembo stated, it was the buyer's decision.
At least the seller was honest that it was an acid date.
    But........what a waste of money.

$700 to throw away and no brains to go with it . He/she is getting what they deserve.
